The sound World of Ems AVS (part 1)
In the prolongation of the post, devoted below the Ems Synhi Aks, SY99 and EX5R, here of the sound examples carried out in order to illustrate the capacities of the emulation suggested by Ludwig Rehberg, Ems Avs.
Here, on this screen shot, the patch of Pacific 440, because the breath of the beginning makes me think of an old engine with vapor. The sequence which one can hear comes from the arpegiator of Energy XT. With in bottom, the slightly percussive sequence of Minimonsta. For those which can read a patch of Ems, note that the ring modulation modulates oscillator 1 and 3.
Ems Avs all alone. The beginning is quiet, with a a little percussif side thanks to the beats of oscillators 1 and 2 in the filter, then the noise makes its appearance while the filter oscillates in a voluntary way. The beat and the effects of noise come from Avs, Moog Modular entering to the 2nd third of the example. A well not complicated patch, the osc1 and 2 are in ring modulation, also in the filter with in more the noise. The osc3 modulates itself as well as the filter. The Modulation boxing ring is at exit but so put in the envelope, itself injected into the reverberation.
Another example in the prolongation of that above, and which has the advantage of showing the modular aspect of this virtual synth. Let us not forget that it proposes only three oscillators, of which one which makes low frequency office, but its matrix makes it possible to generate different sequences and in parallel. Ems Avs is there too all alone, with however the noise which is added in boxing ring modulation and which modulates the osc1 and osc3, the osc3 modulating ausi the frequency of the osc1. The boxing ring modulation modulates Osc1, leaves in the envelope while this one is connected with the filter.
With the base, it is an error. By taking my midi guitar, I made vibrate one of the cords and the arpegiator of XT launched the sequence. As I found interesting, I preserved it. It is carried out with Ems Avs et Moog Modular. The beat, the pulsation and the effects of noise come from Avs, Moog Modular entering to the 2nd third of the example.
Here, the will, which is not musical at all, was to show this qu one can make, inter alia possibilities because they are numerous, with Ems Avs with midi keyboard, in the event one Emu X board49. Sonorities are obtained with the keyboard then the parameters of Ems Avs modified in real time with the BCR2000 and Bistream 3x for the joystick of Ems Avs.
The principle is the same one as above, with a will to obtain a sound chaos even more pronounced, with with the first third of the example of the effects of joystick more accentuated starting from Bitstream 3x, which controls that of Ems Avs starting from Live 5.
NNote the rhythm obtained with the noise which is behind bottom. Then the oscillators become more melody in a kind of unison, with the appearance with half of the example a beat which with the wire of unfolding will evolve in serious notes with a counterpoint of the filter. The example finishes with this powerful beat, there too in counterpoint with the line of low.
In a more melody framework, here an aspect of a line of bass of Ems AVS and réhaussée by a small note played by Minimonsta then in the 2nd third, appearance in bottom, poour to fill up a little more space, Moog Modular V2.
Another example, with a line of low which was generated at the base aleatory by the arpegiator of Energy XT. the percussif aspect is produced with Minimonsta. If the beginning of the line of low, it evolves/moves rather quickly on a quite crasseux sound. It one of my is preferred bus at the same time, with the percussions of Minismonta, I find it very funny. It illustrates very well what one can obtain like result with Ems Avs, a line of low quite readable and in counterpoint a rather dirty sound.
Lastly, there, I literally had fun. I wanted to show that one could improvise with Ems Avs from one of a melody line. The rhythmic side in bottom comes from Minimonta, Ems Avs is modified in real time, it is enough to inter-connect the modules, the result is immediate.
